Application-by-Industry
Antique Appliances and Cash Registers, and everything in-between…
You can always trust Reliable Plating and Polishing with your rare parts during the restoration process to achieve perfect results every time.
Reliable Plating and Polishing was even featured on TV when we did the plating on the restoration of a 1950’s barber’s chair on the Discovery Channel’s “Secret Restoration” show.
Behind the scenes, we did the plating for all of their other projects, too!
Restoring antique appliances, cash registers, or any other out-of-the-daily norm item, is a meticulous process that involves careful cleaning, repairing, and sometimes replacing hard-to-find parts to bring these historical items back to their original glory.
Collectors value these pieces for their craftsmanship, historical significance, and the nostalgia they evoke. Common metal finishes found on these items include polished brass, nickel, and chrome, which add to their aesthetic appeal and authenticity. The collectability of these antiques often depends on their rarity, condition, and the presence of original components.
Restoring these items requires a deep understanding of the materials and techniques used in their original construction, making it a rewarding challenge for enthusiasts.
These are truly specialty items.
Some of the Stranger Things We’ve Plated
An artist brought us fungus…
We worked closely with an artist, to bring his vision to life. He wished to adorn these beautiful copperplate prints with a natural element. That element was a fungus, known as “bracket fungus”, which commonly grows on trees in the Northeast. The dried fungus was specially treated so that it could be copper plated and preserved.
Antique Appliances, Cash Registers and ODDITIES
Reliable Plating and Polishing has entertained the restoration of many eclectic items. Items that we love to see and work on. Faucets from the late-1800s, ornate stove parts from the early-1900s, to polishing nose cones for a mid-century aircraft.
Artists and hobbyists
Whether it’s your hobby or it’s your job to fix things, we can help! We often work with restorers and Interior designers who have that one-of-a-kind oddity that becomes the focal point of every conversation.
