Anodize Clear

Clear anodize is a surface finishing method for aluminum that enhances its properties, hardness and characteristics. Anodizing is an excellent way to seal the surface of aluminum. Here’s what you need to know:

Process: During clear anodization, aluminum undergoes a chemical process that converts it into aluminum oxide. This process makes the aluminum more stable, effective, and controllable.

Strength and Durability: Clear anodized aluminum is significantly stronger and more durable than raw or milled aluminum. It provides better corrosion resistance and a longer lifespan.

Corrosion Resistance: Anodized coatings offer excellent resistance to corrosion or rust. The thick anodic oxide layer formed during anodization protects the aluminum surface. Even if the overlying dye wears off, the oxide layer remains intact.

Quick Process: Clear anodizing is relatively quick, taking around 1-2 hours. It’s a great choice when time is limited, and a durable finish is needed.

The process involves cleaning the aluminum, immersing it in an acidic bath, and creating an oxide layer through an electrical charge. The result is a transparent coating that showcases the silver-gray metallic properties of aluminum.
